What does the link to Bobby Pantuso's article have to do with getting the last word? Swamp Gas gave me an irresistible opening with his wrongheaded assumption that Mr. Pantuso, being a reasonable guy, would agree with the almighty Swamp Gas. Swamp gas is a deity-like amorphous cloud. However, he cleverly disguises his visage as a perro negro. You know iz, I am complimented by Nancy's flattering observation and would remind that chap Zorro to save a visit to the local church. Nevertheless - I have my own forum - and I am going to use it in an attempt to have The Last Word. There is no friggin' way I'm going to get it here... A link to an article where Pantuso is whining -- instead of doing anything constructive -- really doesn't support anyone's point.

What it does is prove that the Swampy was wrong about me and about what Alderman Pantuso thinks of the project. Alderman Pantuso and I are not the only residents of the neighborhood who are disappointed by this development. If I had to guess, I'd say that most actual residents of the neighborhood (as opposed to gasbags who live elsewhere and are weighing in because they just love to hear the sound of their own gas) are resigned to the prospect of having O'Reilly move in, but would rather see something else in that spot. This East Side Tosa resident who would prefer something more fun than an auto parts megaplex, but this East Side Tosa resident prefers an auto part megaplex over the largest building on east North Ave sitting vacant. The worst thing that can happen is for our aldercritters to harass O'Reilly's to the point that they decide not to settle in.
It's an honest, legitimate business that will employ people, generate sales taxes and provide income to the owner so he can pay property taxes -- all very good things. It will also come into Tosa without its hand out begging for taxpayer money....unlike businesses (such as Alterra) that cater to Tosa yuppies. Also a very good thing and its a glass half-full attitude.
It would be nice to know which businesses in Tosa are in business because of a taxpayer subidy, TIF, grant, no-interest loan or handout and which quietly try to earn an honest living on their own. Perhaps if some taxpayer grant money fell from the sky, a new yuppie/hipster fun zone could be built instead of an auto parts store, but the pots of money designated to subsidize those lifestyles are empty.
Lets think big, people.......30 pages! I am sure it will happen because Nancy will find some links somewhere showing that O'Reillys got some subsidy someplace other than Tosa.

(Zorro tells Plato that Zorro knows of the hard times in The Land of Plato and Zorro will take whatever collateral the man in the toga offers) Plato lives a modest life and is not intrigued by wagering, but he does enjoy the challenge of a strong mind in a logical argument. Plato is, however, concerned, as this is the third wager made by Zorro in this discussion: one on himself, one on Nancy, and the one above. As he contemplates, Plato wonders if Zorro has, perhaps, created a no-win situation for himself. This concerns Plato as Zorro, the selfless champion of the down-trodden, may be wagering the wealth of the rich at the expense of the poor.

Plato sees the logical connection to that malady, but Plato was thinking that in this particular discussion Zorro may simply be too smart by half, which is a common affliction among Plato's students. However, Zorro is a clever fellow, and Plato accepts the possibility that Zorro may outwit us all.
